Article type: News

U.S. Representative Maxine Waters, who represents the 35th District of California visited a Rebuilding Together South Bay project over the weekend.

Rebuilding Together South Bay, located in Los Angeles County, hosted a renovation project with more than 90 Northrop Grumman employees.   Volunteers painted and cleaned the historic Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2075 in the City of Hawthorne.

The project is the result of the efforts of Rebuilding Together and Northrop Grumman to assist veterans and their families in the community.  The volunteer teams also prepped and painted the entire building’s exterior, repaired an awning, and cleaned the interior.

The VFW building is on a second tour of duty in its present configuration. In 1931, it was converted from the city's water tower and is located on the highest point in Hawthorne.  "The Tank" is now a dining hall and proudly hosts many veteran and community service events, including monthly fund raisers and annual Thanksgiving dinner for over 200 veterans transported from local VA hospitals.
