Safe and Healthy Homes

The Safe & Healthy Homes Initiative is dedicated to improving the quality of life for low-income homeowners through its home modifications and energy efficiency programs. Safe & Healthy Homes allows homeowners increased mobility and the opportunity to age in place in their home; a feeling of safety, security and independence within the home; increased physical comfort in their home; savings on monthly utility bills and more disposable income to purchase goods and services to meet daily needs.


Safe & Healthy Homes seeks not only to help homeowners, but to develop communities as well. Through this initiative, Rebuilding Together provides a wealth of resources for the general public to raise awareness of the various social issues that Safe & Healthy Homes addresses. Rebuilding Together has developed checklists, videos, fact sheets, and other educational materials to be provided free of charge. Annual workshops all over the country provide training opportunities for affiliates, professionals, and the public on home modifications and falls prevention in the home. Through the Safe & Healthy Homes Initiative, Rebuilding Together conducts training and educational seminars and workshops; collects and disseminates an array of best practices, enabling affiliates to take advantage of the most current and effective methods of home repair; and serves as an informational resource to both affiliates and the public.
