Rebuilding Together, Republic Services Launch Efforts to Support Small Business Needs Across the Country
Washington, D.C., June 11, 2020 – Rebuilding Together, a leading national non-profit organization that provides critical home repairs to individuals in need at no cost to them and revitalizes communities throughout the country, announced today a national partnership with Republic Services. Through a $1 million grant from the Republic Services Charitable Foundation, Rebuilding Together affiliates will support critical small business needs.
Many small business owners across the country are experiencing financial hardship and economic disruption because of the COVID-19 shutdowns. Through grants provided by the Republic Services Charitable Foundation, Rebuilding Together will be able to provide much needed support to local business owners as they begin returning to work. Some of the repairs performed will include rebuilding surrounding business infrastructure, critical landscape repairs and modifications to allow for safe access of buildings, sidewalks, parking lots, storefronts and nearby public and common spaces.
Republic Services recently announced Committed to Serve, its $20 million initiative to keep their employees, customers and communities thriving. The funds will be granted to support neighborhood revitalization efforts directly impacting local small businesses in need due to COVID-19.
“Small businesses are the cornerstone of strong, healthy and vibrant neighborhoods,” said Catharine Ellingsen, president of the Republic Services Charitable Foundation and executive vice president of Republic Services. “Together, we can support locally owned businesses in our neighborhoods and help them not only survive but thrive as they overcome this pandemic.”
The partnership will kick off in fall 2020. Benefitting communities are to be determined.
