Ferguson and Rebuilding Together Spread Kindness in Broward County
For Loretta, home is where she’s lived for nearly 30 years with her late husband, a WWII Navy Veteran. At 82 years old, she continues to care for her adult son, who lives with a disability. As an older homeowner, Loretta has experienced mobility challenges, and her home needs repairs.
Rebuilding Together Broward County teamed up with Ferguson last month, along with 13 energetic associate volunteers, to transform Loretta’s home making it more accessible and safe.
"I cannot express my gratitude enough. I am overwhelmed by the kindness and dedication of everyone involved," Loretta said.
After completing a comprehensive 25 point inspection to evaluate the health and safety of Loretta’s home, Rebuilding Together Broward County’s home repair technicians installed grab bars and fire extinguishers, repaired the gutters and cleared debris, replaced light switches and installed a new exterior light for safety. Volunteers painted the entire exterior of the home, landscaped and planted native plants among other improvements. Overall, the project had a profound impact on the well-being and quality of life of Loretta and her son.
