Rebuilding Together Recognizes Wells Fargo with the 2018 Patty R. Johnson Community Builder Award

Last week, Rebuilding Together affiliates and national corporate partners from across the country met in Seattle to discuss the future of Rebuilding Together, develop further partnerships and explore innovative ideas to accelerate our work of repairing the homes of our neighbors in need and revitalize our communities.

Our annual conference is a time to celebrate and reflect on the achievements of our organization, take a breath and align our work across the country.  At this year’s conference, I had the wonderful opportunity to announce Wells Fargo as the recipient of the 2018 Patty R. Johnson Community Builder Award. The Award, named after Rebuilding Together's founding president, is awarded to an individual or corporation that best exemplifies dedicated service and leadership to communities in need.

Wells Fargo is essential to realizing our vision of a safe home and community for every person. Since 2014, Wells Fargo has provided over $6.6 million to the Rebuilding Together network. Through the Wells Fargo Foundation, Wells Fargo supports local neighborhood revitalization initiatives; constructing, repairing and rehabilitating affordable housing and preserving small businesses. Since organizing its first volunteer activity over 20 years ago, the Wells Fargo Team Member Volunteer Program (TMVP) has worked on more than 250 rebuild projects with Rebuilding Together.

Additionally, as part of Wells Fargo’s 2020 Corporate Social Responsibility Commitment, they pledged to improve 1,000 homes by 2020. Wells Fargo exceeded its goal, surpassing 1,000 homes at the end of 2017, more than two years ahead of the deadline.

Wells Fargo’s leadership and commitment to our neighbors in need extends deep into the communities they serve. The Wells Fargo Foundation has invested more than $212.7 million in such efforts over the past 25 years, along with mobilizing more than 4.75 million team member volunteer hours to build and rehabilitate nearly 7,600 homes and counting.

While there are many ways we can measure success, the success of our organization can be boiled down to two important facets: the people we serve and the relationships we cultivate. We are abundantly grateful for our relationship with Wells Fargo.

Through our partnership, we are catalysts of change in communities nationwide.

Please join me in recognizing and thanking Wells Fargo, and its employees, for their overwhelming support of Rebuilding Together!

With gratitude,

Caroline Blakely
