Neighbors Helping Neighbors: National Rebuilding Month Is Here!

The first day of National Rebuilding Month is less than 24 hours away–an occasion that [Re]Builders have been celebrating every April since 1973! When National Rebuilding Month originated all those years ago in Midland, TX, the purpose was simple–neighbors helping neighbors. It’s amazing that all these years later, that purpose remains the same. Rebuilding Together affiliates are truly working hand in hand with neighbors in their own communities across the country to make a real difference.

I’m so excited that many of our affiliates who weren’t able to host large-scale rebuilding projects the past two years due to COVID-19 are now able to do so for National Rebuilding Month 2022. Affiliates are working to repair homes and revitalize communities this month with a variety of different projects.

In Akron, OH, Rebuilding Together Northeast Ohio will work with volunteers to make critical repairs for a local center that supports 2,200 people each month with warm meals, clothing, toiletries and counseling. In Petaluma, CA, Rebuilding Together Petaluma will plant 150 native species trees in a city park. In Philadelphia, Rebuilding Together Philadelphia will make essential home repairs to 10 homes with six to eight volunteers per home.

The work of Rebuilding Together is happening all year long, but our efforts are amplified in April to help neighbors in need and get the word out about this important work. There are many ways that YOU individually get involved this National Rebuilding Month.

  • Volunteer with your local affiliate. Use our online tool to find the Rebuilding Together affiliate in your area and reach out to them directly to see how you can get involved.
  • Make a donation to help fund this important work.
  • Share the word about National Rebuilding Month on social media using #RebuildingMonth.
  • Visit our website for more.

Thousands of volunteers have spent countless hours serving their neighbors and communities during National Rebuilding Month. We’re so excited to continue this momentum!
