Felecia Moore Banks, Associate Professor and Chairperson

Felecia Moore Banks, Ph.D., MEd, OTR/L, FAOTA, is an award-winning Associate Professor and Chairperson of Howard University’s Department of Occupational Therapy and has served in several administrative roles including the university’s Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs in the Division of Allied Health Sciences. As a clinical specialist in physical disabilities, educator, and Certified Aging in Place Specialist, she has decades of experience teaching, designing and developing curriculum. Dr. Banks is also a researcher; frequently presents at professional conferences and has a passion for working with marginalized and at-risk populations.

Twenty-nine years of experience in curriculum design and development. Former Chair of the Division’s Curriculum Committee. Participated in numerous university committees on curriculum development and international programs initiatives including United States Department of Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Washington, DC, 2022-Present. Graduate & certificate from Allied Health Collation Leadership Program, Association for the Schools of Allied Health Professions (ASAHP), Washington, DC, 2003. Roster of Fellows (FAOTA) Award for Excellence in Transformative Leadership, Curriculum Design, and Cultural Diversity, American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), 2016.

Over thirty years of teaching excellence and service to the community. Recipient of the “Professor of the Year Award;” “Outstanding Leadership Award,” and Provost Distinguished Service Award.” Principal Investigator, with over 2 million dollars in funded grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)- 2016-2020. Chief Editor, Journal of the National Society of Allied Health from 2001-2006. Committee Member, Editorial Board for Journal of Occupational Therapy in Health, 2007- 2010, and Editorial Reviewer for American Journal of Occupational Therapy 2021-present.

Clinical Specialist in Physical Disabilities. Experience in Acute Care and Neurodevelopmental Certification in Adult Physical Disabilities #AH-1265-90 (1990).
