Lisette Lieberman, Executive Officer, General Manager and Chief Compliance Officer

Lisette Lieberman is Executive Officer, General Manager, and Chief Compliance Officer for SMBC Group in the Americas. She was appointed as an Executive Officer on April 1, 2023. Lisette joined the company in September 2019 as Managing Director, General Manager, and Chief Compliance Officer. Lisette is an executive sponsor for the firm’s Women’s Inclusion Network, an employee-led resource group that promotes and champions the growth, development, and success of women across the organization. She was also appointed as a Director to the SMBC Global Foundation.
Lisette has spent her career building and transforming global compliance organizations by partnering across businesses and functions to enhance and strengthen firm-wide operating models, processes, technology, business practices and governance in a sustainable manner. Over the years, a primary part of Lisette’s focus has included working with senior management to drive transformational compliance change, including by enhancing firm culture, regulatory preparedness, and strategic opportunities.
Lisette began her career at Goldman Sachs where she spent more than 25 years in various global compliance leadership roles, including as Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer for Goldman Sachs Asset Management and for Global Compliance Employee Services. Lisette then joined TD Bank as an Executive Vice President, U.S. Chief Compliance Officer, and Deputy Global Chief Compliance Officer. She then joined Societe Generale where she was Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer for the Americas and a member of its U.S. Executive Committee.
A strong advocate for diversity and inclusion, Lisette has served in a variety of capacities, including as Head of the Goldman Sachs Women’s Network for the Federation and Executive Office and a Board Member of the TD Charitable Trust Foundation.
Lisette earned a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Boston University’s Questrom School of Management and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business.
