Rebuilding Together AmeriCorps' MLK Week of Service 2020

Rebuilding Together’s MLK Week of Service is a national program that brings together Rebuilding Together’s AmeriCorps members serving across the country to transform the lives of neighbors in need and make an impact in communities. The program coincides with the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service held on Monday, January 20, 2020. The MLK Week of Service has become a hallmark of Rebuilding Together’s AmeriCorps programs, and was nationally recognized by the Corporation for National and Community Service with the 2013 Service Impact Award.

This year's project will be hosted by Rebuilding Together New Orleans. Fifty Rebuilding Together AmeriCorps members, representing 26 communities and 18 different states, will complete a variety of repairs and modifications to improve the safety and health of homes for residents in need in New Orleans. Members will work on the project site from Monday, January 20 to Thursday, January 23, for a multi-home, multi-day rebuild project. During this time, they will install a wheelchair ramp, repair and replace windows and mitigate and remove fall hazards among various other repairs. Our mission is to bring the community together to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King by serving our neighbors in need and revitalizing the community.
